Twórcą fotela Egg jest Arne Jacobsen, a sam fotel został zaprojektowany został dla hotelu Radisson SAS w Kopenhadze w 1958 roku. Materiał użyty do obcia fotela to syntetyczny kaszmir, który składa się w 20% z wełny oraz 80% poliestru. Dzięki takiej mieszance, tkanina odporna jest odporna na przetarcia.
