2-portowe złącze EtherCAT EK1122 może być używane w segmencie terminali EtherCAT w dowolnej pozycji pomiędzy terminalami EtherCAT i umożliwia konfigurację topologii gwiazdy EtherCAT. Modułowy koncentrator gwiazdy EtherCAT może być zrealizowany przy użyciu kilku jednostek EK1122 w stacji.EK1122 posiada dwa gniazda RJ45, które umożliwiają podłączenie kabla Ethernet ze złączem RJ45 i ustanowienie połączenia z dalszym segmentem EtherCAT lub z poszczególnymi urządzeniami EtherCAT. EK1122 obsługuje łączenie i rozłączanie segmentów EtherCAT podczas pracy (Hot Connect).
