BK3120 został zaprojektowany w celu spełnienia wymagań automatyzacji. Protokoły PROFIBUS pomijają działanie FMS, aby móc przesyłać więcej danych użytkownika w trybie DP, który dla tego typu łącznika magistrali może wynosić 128 bajtów wejść i 128 bajtów wyjść. BK3120 zawiera usługi PROFIBUS DP V1. Usługi te umożliwiają bezpośredni dostęp do rejestru łącznika magistrali i złożonych zacisków magistrali, na przykład w celu zmiany parametryzacji lub ustawienia / skorygowania wartości granicznych dla analogowych zacisków magistrali.
