Screwdrivers with interchangeable bits are folding screwdrivers, also called combination screwdrivers. These screwdrivers have interchangeable blades or bits. They have a wider range of uses because they can be used to install or remove screws and bolts with different types of drives, such as flat, Phillips and Torx.
Just like all screwdrivers, a handle and a blade are assembled. However, in these screwdrivers, the handle or main blade ends with a 1/4" socket handle. Screwdrivers with a fixed main blade have handles that hold a magazine for replaceable bits. Screwdrivers with 1/4" hexagonal socket handles, on the other hand, have hexagonal (1/4") blades used on two sides, i.e. with work profiles on both ends. The storage boxes supplied with the tools are used to store these blades. In the case of insulated screwdrivers (VDE) with replaceable blades, the blades have one blade, are insulated and have a 1/4" hexagonal blade holder.
A distinction is made between screwdrivers with replaceable bits and screwdriver blades depending on the type of bit. Both are available in insulated (VDE) versions for electricians.
The main technical features of interchangeable screwdrivers are: overall length, bit length, handle length, bit or blade type and size, total weight.
These tools are used for installing and removing threaded fasteners (screws and bolts). These screwdrivers are therefore used in practically all industries. They are manufactured by Bahco, Felo, Gedore, Hazet, Stanley, Wera, Wiha and many others.
