Insulation tapes

Insulation tapes are used in the repair of electrical installations with voltages up to 600V. They are an indispensable piece of equipment for electricians, mechanics, fitters and home handymen. They are designed to insulate electrical wires. Cable tapes Tape for cables are also used for bundling and marking wires. They are also used wherever you need a strong and flexible tape to connect the elements.

Insulation tapes - what are their characteristics?

Insulation tape is made of plastic material, usually PVC. This material is a very good insulator, therefore, it can be successfully used to connect and tape uncovered wires. The tape adheres very well to the surface, thanks to the use of strong and universal rubber or acrylic adhesives. The material used for the production of the insulating tape is characterised by antifire properties - it is self-extinguishing and therefore protects against the spread of fire in the event of a spark in the electrical installation.

Very good adhesion of insulating tapes causes that they are used not only to insulate cables. During maintenance and repair work, for example, they are used to fix cables to the ground or to join bundles of cables. It is very important to clean the surface thoroughly before applying the tape - thanks to this you can count on a tight and durable connection.

Insulation tapes are also used as protection against corrosion. This is due to the fact that this material is characterized by very good adhesion and tightness of connections, while the tape itself is not subject to corrosion. This is how the tape is used, for example, during car or machine repairs.

Tapes for cables - diverse offer

Cable ties are a very broad category. The individual articles differ from each other not only in size and length but also in other parameters.

Even standard tapes are characterized by resistance to a very wide range of temperatures. They retain their properties even in heat up to 90 degrees Celsius. However, if the cables are installed in even more demanding conditions, high-temperature tapes are used. This type of elements can be characterized by strength up to 150 degrees.

It is also common to find self-amalgamating insulating tapes. They are used wherever a high level of water resistance is required. Such tape is definitely different from standard cable tape. First of all, it does not use glue. Sealing takes place through a chemical reaction after stretching and wrapping the place where the insulation is restored. Silicone rubber, polyisobutylene and ethylene propylene are usually used in its production. Due to its excellent sealing parameters, it is used e.g. in installations with high electrical voltage, in sanitary installations or when sealing garden tools.

Insulation tapes are available in many colours. The most common colour is black, however, sets of tapes in various colours are also available. They are used, for example, to mark phases, which greatly facilitates the subsequent removal of defects. When choosing colored insulating tapes, it is worth making sure that they are resistant to the effects of solar radiation, for example. In this way you can count on the fact that the colored markings will remain visible permanently.

If the tape is to be used for ground connections, you should opt for items with increased resistance to moisture and chemicals (such as synthetic oils). In these cases, an anti-corrosion tape is recommended.

When connecting bundles of cables, fabric insulating tapes are often used. These products are characterized by very good resistance to moisture and changing temperature conditions. They are also valued for their very good adhesion, noise dampening and resistance to friction.
