UNEF Achieves 100% Carbon Footprint Compensation for XI Solar Forum, Becoming the First CO₂-Neutral Forum
UNEF, representing over 90% of the photovoltaic sector, compensated all CO₂ emissions from the XI Solar Forum 2024 through reforestation in Burgos, making it the first 'CO₂-committed' solar event. The forum's carbon footprint was evaluated across various categories, with emissions from attendee travel, venue climate control, electricity consumption, catering, and merchandising totaling approximately 31 tons of CO₂eq. UNEF's commitment led to the planting of a forest in San Adrián de Juarros, featuring adaptable tree species like the Silver Cedar and Hawthorn. This initiative not only offsets the event's carbon emissions but also promotes long-term environmental benefits.
