Hanwha Qcells, often referred to as just Qcells, is a lead producer of solar cells. Founded in 1999 in Bitterfeld-Wolfen, Germany, its headquarters moved to Seoul, South Korea, but it still maintains engineering offices in Germany. Bought from bankruptcy by Hanwha Group, a South Korean business conglomerate, in 2012, Qcells now functions as a branch of Hanwha Solutions, the group's energy and petrochemical company. Qcells, being the sixth largest solar cell manufacturer in 2019, maintains manufacturing facilities in China, Malaysia, South Korea, and the United States, and provides a wide range of photovoltaic products and solutions from modules to large scale solar power plants.
