Instructions for creating merXu files
The merXu file enables simple and effective data exchange with the merXu platform.
This guide will show you how to prepare a spreadsheet in merXu format. We will walk you through all the steps of building the file. You will also learn how to add custom product parameters, and which ones are necessary to import the data.
We provide a template file. However, you can also build it yourself, based on these instructions.
You can download a ready-made file template in a spreadsheet. Use it to build your merXu file or create your own file based on the instructions in the manual.
How detailed you describe your product on file will affect the effectiveness of your sales. An accurate and complete description means a greater chance of your products being found and purchased.

The data you enter in the file must be up to date and the products must be available.
Basic information about the file
What the file and parameters look like
The starting point for preparing the file is a table made up of columns, with the names of the product parameters, and rows containing the corresponding values. The name of the column is the name of the parameter.

- Attribute names are written entirely in lower case. The same applies to EAN, ID or VAT - abbreviations, which in normal use are always written in capital letters.
- Write the names of additional attributes starting with a capital letter, for example: Gross weight [kg], Housing colour, Diagonal [cm].
- Units of measurement within an attribute - may or may not be written in lower case, but must always be enclosed in square brackets.
The file template we will provide you with contains columns with the names of the product attributes described in the instructions. You can expand it with all the additional parameters you need to sell your product.
How to choose a category (merXu category path)
Remember to choose the merXu category that best fits the products you offer when preparing the file. Try to make the category path as detailed as possible. Provide not only the main category, but also a third-order category path, i.e., in addition to the main category, also subcategories, e.g., Safety | Personal Protective Equipment | Head Protection
When entering the category path, use one of the possible separators: ("|", ">", "/", "\\", "►", "▸", "›")
In which program to create a worksheet
If you want to prepare the file yourself, you can do so in all popular office packages (Microsoft Excel, Google Docs, LibreOffice, OpenOffice and others).
If you are working on a file in .csv format, pay attention to the encoding type: it should be utf-8. The encoding affects the correct writing of specific characters, for example "ł, ą, ć, ń" and others.
