Renewable Energy's Share in Spanish Industry Reaches 29%
In 2023, 29% of the energy consumed by Spanish industry was from renewable sources, a 4% increase from 2022. Despite a 1.5% decrease in total energy consumption, reaching a historic low of 18.5 Mtep, renewable energy played a significant role in heat and electricity generation. The decline in natural gas and petroleum consumption also contributed to this increase. Industry experts highlight the need for further electrification and adoption of renewable gases to replace fossil fuels and nuclear energy.
