Selling a gas installation - what is important?

Gas installation is not losing its popularity. Many customers today opt for this way of heating buildings because of the low bills. What is important to emphasise to the customer when selling a gas installation?

How does a gas installation work?

Nowadays, more and more people are choosing gas heating. Its popularity has not decreased for several years.

It is not surprising that manufacturers want to make the most of this moment and convince potential customers of their products. What should they pay attention to in the sales process? In addition to the prices mentioned at the beginning - the simplicity of operation undoubtedly plays a significant role. A central heating boiler does not require the user to go down to the boiler room, add fuel, or wait a long time for the rooms to heat up. It is enough to set the appropriate temperature on the panel and wait for the effect. The advantages of this type of heating also include:

• time-saving,

• no emission of pollutants,

• a multitude of applications.

It is also worth briefly explaining how a gas installation works. Gas raises the temperature of the water, which spreads through pipes throughout the building to radiators and – if installed – to underfloor heating. For the whole system to work correctly, the gas installation must be connected to the network or an LPG tank. It should be considered at the building design stage. This will also allow for proper planning of pipe outlets and the location of devices to be powered by gas. This mainly concerns the kitchen hob. Many people still prefer to cook on it instead of, for example, induction. To make this possible, it is necessary to consider the gas outlet in the kitchen. Although customers should be aware of this, it is worth reminding them of the mentioned rules, especially if they are at the stage of constant changes in the project.

What does the installation of a gas installation look like?

At the very beginning, we want to emphasize that only specialists should be responsible for installing gas installations.

Unfortunately, many people still hope to carry out this process independently. Customers should be sensitized to ensure that the professionals they choose have G3 qualifications, which allow for the installation of networks and gas installations and maintenance.

The installation of a gas installation takes place in several steps:

  1. Project – this stage can already be treated as the beginning of activities – specialists from the industry should also be involved here. The prepared project will not be able to materialize without appropriate permits – if the building is yet to be built, a schematic of the internal gas installation should be submitted along with the application for a building permit. If, on the other hand, it is to be installed in an existing building, the application and project should be accompanied by a chimney sweep's opinion and a sketch map.

  2. Construction of the installation – at this stage, it is necessary to keep a construction diary. Two types of pipes are most commonly used for installing gas installations:

  • hard copper – their wall thickness is at least 1 mm. They can be connected by hard soldering, using copper or brass fittings. They are not used in external installations, only inside buildings.

  • seamless steel or welded seam pipes – in external installations, they are connected by welding, and in external ones, threaded connectors made of white cast iron are used.

A range of fittings, tees, elbows, and other accessories are also indispensable.

During the construction of a gas installation, care should be taken to run the connection as straight and short as possible, running perpendicular to the plot boundary.

At this stage, it is essential to apply available safety measures, thanks to which the network will be tight and durable.

3. Acceptance of the gas installation – after a series of assembly works, a tightness test is performed. The installation can be put into operation if there is no drop in the test agent within 30 minutes of its stabilization. When the test result is positive, an acceptance protocol is prepared. A chimney sweep's acceptance is also required.

4. Launching gas supplies – if the installation passes the technical acceptance positively, the documents can be handed over to the gas company. It will then start the fuel supply in the newly installed installation.

Although it is difficult to predict what gas prices will look like in the coming years, it is currently considered a relatively cheap fuel. Interest in this type of heating is not weakening.
