Torque boosters are small wrench-driven mechanical devices used to increase torque during assembly or disassembly of bolts. They allow high assembly accuracy in terms of applied torque when used together with torque wrenches.
Torque multipliers are compact gearboxes used to increase the torque applied by a wrench, including torque wrenches. They are equipped with an input spindle with an appropriate drive (hexagon socket or square) to mount the wrench driver with which torque is applied, and an output spindle ending in a square driver to mount a socket that transmits multiplied torque to the screw. An important construction element of torque multipliers is a stop arm used for their immobilization, which is necessary for the operation of these devices. It is used for clamping the torque multiplier to machine housings, vehicles, steel constructions etc.
Technical parameters which characterize torque multipliers are: range of multiplied torques (Nm), accuracy (%), gain factor (quotient), size of input and output spindle drives, total length (mm), total weight (g).
Torque multipliers are used to increase torque applied with wrenches, including torque wrenches. They are used in mechanical service of large machines and vehicles (e.g. railway, etc.), during erection of steel constructions, industrial buildings, construction of pipelines, etc. They are manufactured by Bahco, Facom, Gedore, Hazet and many others.
