Planes are specialized devices designed for finishing flat wooden surfaces. They are mainly used by carpenters and carpenters in their work.

Plow construction

The main components of planers include: a commutator electric motor for 1-phase current, a cooling fan, a belt transmission for the drive of the planing head, a planer head with replaceable knives (1- or 2-knife), front sliding feet (movable and rear fixed ), mechanism for adjusting the position of the front foot for setting the planing depth, parking foot, housing with main and additional handles (optional), switch, electronics optimizing operation, chip evacuation system, power cable.

Accessories for cordless planers

The basic accessory of all planers are planing knives, which are mounted in the head. The knives are made of HSS high-speed steel (for soft wood) or sintered carbides (for all types of wood). The parallel guide, the planing depth limiter and the chamfering guide make it easier to work with planes.

Main technical parameters of the planes

Technical parameters characterizing cable planers are: supply voltage (230 V / 50 Hz), nominal power (2700 W), rotational speed in idle gear (max. 17,000 min-1), planing width (82-320 mm), planing depth (maximum 3.5 mm), maximum rebate depth (up to 25 mm) and machine weight (maximum 14 kg).

Plow applications, advantages and manufacturers

The following are performed with planes: smoothing and leveling wooden surfaces, cutting out the rebates and thickness planing of beams, square timber and boards, chamfering the edges of wooden surfaces, as well as decorative planing (giving the surface a texture). These machines are therefore designed exclusively for the surface treatment of wood and wood-based materials. They are used in carpentry factories and workshops, including furniture, and in wooden construction. The planes are produced by AEG, Bosch, DeWALT, Fein, Festool, HiKOKI, Panasonic, Mafell, Makita, Metabo and others.
