Sensors and probes

Automation of processes in various fields of industry and economy requires the use of sensors for measuring various parameters. The sensors and probes cooperating with the control and actuators in devices perform these functions. They are responsible for the course of cycles and the analysis of processes taking place in subordinate systems. They transmit signals and information about the current state of devices. They monitor the condition and position of machine components, control cycle sequences, levels and composition of fluids and gases.

Sensors and probes - multiple functions and applications

Sensors and probes are used wherever it is necessary to supervise and provide information about the current progress of processes and changes in the condition of devices. Starting from internal combustion engines where a lambda probe is used, through supervision of work safety and machine operation to information on the levels and contents of materials used in production and work processes.

Lambda probe

Lambda probe as a typical example of a sensor analyzes air composition and oxygen percentage. These values, transmitted to the controller, allow to properly regulate the operation of engines and devices using the combustion process to obtain energy. The lambda probe is most often found in traditional internal combustion engines that use liquid fuels, generator drive systems and various types of turbines and furnaces that burn solid or gaseous fuel. As a chemical sensor , it enables them to function properly. In addition to the automotive industry, the lambda probe supervises the operation of combustion boilers of central heating, bakery ovens and blowing systems in industrial halls.

The lambda probe as a broadband sensor is characterized by the ability to work in temperatures from several dozen to several hundred degrees Celsius. The high efficiency of this device proves to be an effective detector of irregularities in the exhaust system of working combustion devices. It monitors and signals in them deviations from the desired and safe values ​​in the composition of the air.

Movement, presence and position sensors

All kinds of changes in the position of automatic line elements and machines are signaled and monitored by proximity sensors. For this purpose, inductive sensors and capacitive sensors are used.

The proximity inductive sensor registers changes in the electromagnetic field within the operating range. Changes in value cause it to work. It is used as a proximity sensor to detect the presence and movement of metal parts. The proximity sensor, working with control systems and counters, is responsible for counting the work cycles, controlling the number and position of moving parts and elements.

Capacitive sensors rely on the operation of capacitors that monitor the condition of the space in the working area. They are used as sensors for measuring the presence and level of non-conductive materials. Capable of detecting movement through a barrier made of non-conductive material. They are perfect as a liquid detector in tanks and containers for various types of materials. They record the levels of various granules and loose materials.

Measuring and control devices

In the section of measuring tools supporting the work of companies and workshops, the dial gauge is still a popular measuring tool. It is used for all kinds of control of sizes and correctness of geometric shapes of manufactured elements and machine parts. The analog measurement method is most often carried out by means of a toothed mechanism located in a round housing. Appropriately scaled, it enables continuous measurement with an accuracy of 0.01 mm. Dial gauges are most often used for turning or milling tools.
