Plastic switchboards

Plastic switchgears are commonly used enclosures for electrical equipment. They provide safe protection and proper working conditions. In a variety of sizes and configurations, they are installed both in housing, single-family homes, commercial buildings, warehouses and other technical buildings. Plastic electrical cabinets are available as surface-mounted enclosures for mounting directly on equipment, as well as in versions for installation in various locations. Plastic modular switchboards are designed so that the assembly of other elements of electrical installations is fast and does not require additional specialist tools. Depending on the destination and type of installation electrical enclosures are also classified as main, sectional, residential, switching, control and measurement ones.

Construction of electrical installation cabinets

Plastic switchboards are nothing but a plastic box that protects the various components of the electrical system. However, in order to meet the rules imposed by regulations and safety standards, it must be adequately durable and resistant to temperature and the influence of external environmental conditions when installed outside facilities. The most commonly used plastic for casings and doors is PVC or ABS. It is both rigid and ductile enough to ensure the tightness and long-term durability of enclosures. Plastic electrical cabinets can have an opening front made of transparent or matt material on the whole surface or on its part. Such doors must provide adequate access to the interior of the cabinet or box. The vast majority of boxes are lockable or have handles for sealing to prevent unauthorised access.

Due to the type and application we distinguish surface mounted and flush mounted switchgears. They are offered in various sizes, from small modular boxes for residential applications, to large cabinets used in industry, production plants, shopping centres and public utility buildings. Within these categories, they can be divided into board, cabinet, box and modular box enclosures. To ensure that the equipment inside is adequately protected, surface-mounted plastic switchgear is offered in various degree of protection. This ranges from basic IP20 protection for indoor use to IP66 for outdoor use. In these variants, they serve as housing for electric meters, gas meters, and various installation valves and connections. Enclosures have places for cable entry in the form of silicone seals, a spherical weakening facilitating hole cutting or additional hermetic glands.

Electrical cabinets made of plastic, regardless of the type, can have built-in TS35 busbars and screw terminals enabling connection of N and PE grounding (protective conductors). This facilitates the construction and placement of any type of modular control devices. Flush-mounted enclosures are unobtrusive and unobtrusive infrastructure elements. They have the same functions and connection options for electrical equipment as surface-mounted enclosures.

Plastic distribution boards - application

Safety regulations and standards for various electrical installations and process control systems require appropriate protection of the installation and location of electrical equipment. Plastic switchgears are used to protect single devices and a wide range of different elements in telecommunication, electrical, gas, IT and air conditioning installations. Plastic switchboards make it possible to build control panels of entire buildings, individual sectors and individual apartments and rooms. With regard to electrical design, plastic cabinets are adapted in their shape to the standard elements of technical infrastructure. They can be successfully mounted without the need to hide or mask them. Multimedia plastic cabinets usually have built-in mounting strips for individual system connectors. Specially shaped T or Z shaped brackets and profiles make it easy to fix cables directly or using dedicated cable ties and rings. This makes it possible to adjust the cable routing at any time and reuse these fixings. All these standardised systems allow for a faster and safer installation process.
