Lighting tracks

Lighting rails are special strips intended for the installation of so-called track lamps. They are used more and more often as elements of modern interior arrangements, both in recreational living spaces and in commercial premises such as offices, restaurants and hotels. They are often used to illuminate large rooms, e.g. sports halls. The busbars allow the installation of several lamps on one line. These are durable and solid structures, yet light enough to be attached to suspended ceilings. There are single and three-phase busbars on the market. The former allow you to turn on all lamps on the line with one switch and can serve as the main light source, but also act as additional decorative lighting. Three-phase systems create independent current circuits, thanks to which it is possible to turn on some lamps with one button of the switch, and the rest with the other. This solution enables convenient adjustment of the lighting intensity to the individual needs of the user. Various lamps on the track can therefore be used as both main and additional lighting. Due to their construction, three-phase rails are mechanically more resistant than single-phase rails and many lamps can be hung on them.

The conductive element can be aluminum or copper, as these metals have minimal energy loss. Simple construction and design make it possible to easily rearrange the appearance of the lighting. This task is facilitated by various types of accessories (branches, connectors and plugs), with which you can connect the rails together longitudinally or at right angles, and even create a lighting network. It is also possible to purchase adjustable connectors that allow you to make horizontal turns or flexible connectors that allow you to avoid vertical obstacles, such as ceiling beams, or locally change the height at which part of the lighting system is suspended. The rails themselves are available in various lengths, from one to four meters, and they can be easily cut to the required length. Some manufacturers also offer models bent into gentle arcs or circles. Rail sections can be square or oval, although the available colors are mainly black, white or raw metal. It is also easy and fast to replace the lamps, which can be freely removed, moved or switched to different light scenes.

How to choose lighting tracks?

The choice depends on your needs and the method of installation. Many available models are surface mounted. To facilitate the assembly, there are mounting holes in the bottom of the rails, but you can also drill holes if necessary. In addition, the rails can be hung with the use of wire hangers, which allow for suspension adjustment, or rod hangers - of a specific length. In addition, suspended ceilings can be fitted with flush-mounted rails, where only the frame is visible, while the rest of the elements are hidden. Most models of rails are adapted to the installation of lamps powered by 230 V, however, to illuminate small spaces, you can use low-voltage systems (rail or cable) powered with 12 V, which consume less electricity than those for 230 V.

What to look for when choosing lighting track?

In addition to the wires themselves, it is also worth paying special attention to the lamps used. If you want to use lighting to display objects indoors, it is worth choosing lamps with a movable head (most models offer such an option). It is these models that are used in retail stores, as well as in exhibition facilities: galleries and museums. If you want to provide even lighting, you can also use pendant lamps that provide plenty of light on all sides.

It is also worth paying attention to the power that can be transmitted by busbars - those with high power can handle rated currents up to 5,000 A. Therefore, such busbars can be used to install lamps with high power consumption and wherever energy must be transmitted over long distances .
