Coaxial connectors

Coaxial connectors are the basic components that work with coaxial cables, i.e. coaxial cables. Cables of this type are telecommunications lines that are used to transmit low-power variable signals. Their inner vein is surrounded by a thermal insulator with a circular cross-section.

Coaxial connectors are connectors named after the inner conductor and the outer shell separating the geometric axis. This type of connector differs from the others in that their dimensions are controlled to ensure a precise and constant spacing between the conductors. The subsequent successful operation of the transmission line depends on it. All coaxial connectors fit the cables help in generating radio frequency signals. If an optimally matched coaxial cable is used, the signal-carrying electromagnetic field only exists in the space between the inner and outer conductors. All ends of coaxial cables are usually terminated with connectors. The connectors are designed to maintain a coaxial shape throughout the connection and have the same impedance as the attached cable. Connectors of the following types are used to connect coaxial cables: BNC, TNC, N, F, SMA, RP - SMA, as well as other types.

Coaxial RF connectors are used where there are signals with MHz frequencies requiring transmission with the lowest possible losses. Therefore, they are widely used in telecommunications and wireless technologies. It is also a very important element of the measuring equipment, whose basic task is to transmit the signal with minimal losses between modules, subassemblies and devices using a line with a constant wave impedance.

There are also BNC connectors designed to create cable lines, the main parameters of which are: limit frequency, value of transmitted power and dimensions. The conditions under which the indicated joints are created are not without significance.

BNC connectors facilitate the connection of coaxial cables, especially audiovisual. They enable the connection and disconnection of the cable by pressing the connector into the socket and twisting the ring. The use of a special mechanism in the connector enables the plug to be pressed to the socket. Therefore, the connection is solid and durable.

The parameters that should be taken into account when purchasing BNC connectors are: connector impedance, connector bandwidth, connector attenuation, dimensions and assembly method. Regardless of whether you choose the male or female type - these are always properties that need to be considered. The task of cables and coaxial connectors is to create cable lines and therefore the selection must be carefully considered. The biggest advantage of coaxial cables is their low sensitivity to interference and noise. In addition, it is also worth mentioning resistance to mechanical damage. Coaxial cables transmit high frequency signals. In order for the signal to be received, modulated signals with important parameters are superimposed on the high-frequency band. The operation of coaxial cables is based on the principle of the potential difference between two metal parts. The most commonly used type of coaxial cable is the satellite cable, operating at a frequency of 2.5 GHz.
