Cable route covers

Cable Route Covers are used as finishing elements in electrical and telecommunication cable distribution systems in buildings. These elements are used to close constructions such as clips or trunkings, providing protection against various external factors. Cable route covers offer is very wide. The range includes covers for both straight elements and various connectors (internal arc, external, horizontal or vertical) used to change the direction and level of routing.

Covers of cable routes - characteristics

Why are cable duct covers used? They have many functions. These covers are a protection against the ingress of dust and dirt. They are an important barrier against other external factors that could affect the mechanical damage of cables. Apart from this, such elements also protect against atmospheric factors. Therefore the dimensions of the cable duct covers have to be exactly matched to the trays, ladders or trunks. Besides that a very important parameter is also the material of construction. In case of industrial systems it should be galvanized steel, characterized by resistance to corrosion and wide range of temperatures.

Cable duct covers are also used in installations that require high fire resistance parameters. The purpose of tight closing of the trunking is to prevent the cables from catching fire - both in the case of short circuit of cables and in the case of external fire.

In the case of installation of cable routes outside buildings, it is necessary to take care of additional protection. In this case, the use of, for example, tray cover clamps, which protect against the opening of the cover by the wind. In addition, various types of seals are used, in the form of metallized insulating tapes or heat shrinkable elements.

Cable duct covers are usually clamped. This means that it is enough to press their edges in the tray to ensure its closure. There are also covers for corridors with a lock (bolt) available. This provides additional security against unauthorised access or accidental opening. The cover to the tray with a lock is fixed with a rotary bolt, bolting into the cable route. It is also possible to buy a lock as a separate element.

Cable tray covers - for which items?

If the direction of the cable route needs to be changed by 90 degrees, an elbow is usually used. In order to protect the place of the change of direction, after laying cables in such a corner, it is necessary to use a cable route cover adapted to a right angle inner arch. Such an element can be adapted to both vertical and horizontal arc.

If the nature of the building requires the distribution of cables in multiple directions, there are used various tees and fours. To protect cables in such places it is necessary to use covers of cable routes to tee (or other element). Covers are also adapted to other types of connectors, such as symmetrical reductions.

Already at the stage of designing a cable route it is worth to choose a manufacturer that offers a wide range of mounting elements for such systems. Thanks to that it will be possible to lead the route even in difficult conditions - including numerous constructional obstacles, crossing and branching of routes.

PVC cable trays

Cable management systems are not only industrial cable routes using galvanized steel trays. In buildings of an office or residential character, where aesthetic issues are also important, plastic trunkings are often used. These types of elements are adapted to run much smaller number of cables. They are perfect for supplying energy to workplaces or other electrical receivers. Such systems are also used in telecommunication installations. Also in case of systems made of PVC there are used covers of cable routes, whose task is to protect them tightly against dust and dirt.
