Brackets

Brackets are items designed to support a structure or smaller element. They can be used in residential properties - e.g. decorative wooden brackets supporting shelves - as well as in garages or utility rooms - e.g. support hooks with high load bearing capacity. Metal brackets are also used in cable route systems. In this case, these elements support the rails and trays.

Brackets - what are their characteristics?

With brackets it is possible to fix a heavy element to the wall or ceiling. This makes it a very important mounting element for furniture, steel constructions and other elements. The base of the bracket is usually mounted to the wall and the protruding arm (the free end) is loaded by the element. Hooks and brackets in living spaces often have a decorative function besides. Such wooden brackets can be enriched with rich ornaments. Decorative brackets are also used in architecture - for example, decorative supports under balconies.

Brackets used in steel constructions do not have a decorative function. Therefore they are usually metal elements made of strong steel sheet. When choosing such brackets, stable embedding in the ground and high load-bearing capacity are of primary importance.

Supports in cable tray systems

Cable route systems are used in industries, public buildings and other properties. They are used to distribute electricity and electrical communication signals throughout the building. Cables are placed in metal trays that are suspended from the ceiling or placed against the wall. Various brackets are used for this purpose.

A frequently used type of support element is the pipe bracket. It can be attached to both the ceiling and the wall. Such a bracket has numerous perforations, which allow for convenient attachment of the cable tray or ladder. There are also brackets fixed only to the ceiling (e.g. in the form of a central sling) or only to the wall. Mounting screws, steel pins or threaded rods are used for fixing.

Brackets, similarly to trays, trunkings, corners, or other elements making up cable routes, have to be made of materials of high strength. Most often such metal elements are made of galvanized steel.

Mounting elements in cable routes

Cable routes often involve numerous changes of direction and levels. Various bends and corners are used for this, but also supports. Very often the support system has to include various supporting elements adapted to the specific room and installation. A frequent solution are, for example, metal brackets anchored in the ceiling, to which additional outriggers and channels are mounted, allowing the cable tray to be fixed. Sometimes cable routes are led near the floor. In this case it is necessary to use supports and floor fixing systems, which provide a distance from the floor.

Various architectural obstacles mean that the routes do not always turn only at right angles, moreover, structural elements (e.g. steel constructions) are often used for installation. Cable route fixing systems therefore combine angle brackets, pole brackets, hangers, outriggers, lashing rings, or clamps.

When routing cable routes using supports, the number of turns and changes in position should be kept to a minimum. This also minimizes the stress on the cables leading to fractures. The installation should be based on brackets adapted to the specific load. They can be light (without additional support) or reinforced (with additional support beam). In case of trays and trunkings with heavy wires, only supports, hooks and holders with additional reinforcements should be used.
